About Sam

“I treat every project as if it’s my own.”

Sam has been a passionate audio engineer since 2015 with a rich portfolio, collaborating on a multitude of various projects and specializing in producing live music videos. He is a working musician, and tours year round with his band Broken Compass Bluegrass.

Sam’s journey in audio began at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, CA, where he completed the advanced audio recording classes in their studio classroom. In addition to the many audio recording, editing, and mixing projects, Sam was hired by the school to mix and master live recordings of the jazz program’s performances.

Sam’s experience in working with live music videos started when he became the audio engineer for the Whale Rock Barn Sessions, a video series inspired to promote the bands performing at Whale Rock Music Festival. With Videographer/Director Luke Udsen, they co-founded Bethel Rd. Live, a music video series designed to support local SLO county bands and touring artists alike. Together, they recorded over 20 artists inside a working distillery, where Sam accumulated a mass of audio skills in the field.

Since finishing the Recording Arts program at Chico State in 2023, he has engineered and produced recordings for several bands and artists, including mixing and mastering Broken Compass’s latest record, “Through These Trees.”
